6. All pilots must have their membership card and insurance card displayed while in attendance at BIRMA’s field.

GENERAL FLYING

1. Models may only be flown within the designated flying area and under the 400 feet ceiling required by CASA regulations at all times.
2. All transmitters (except 2.4 GHz) must be impounded when not in use.
3. All aircraft take offs including hand launches must be from the runway. Hand launches must be done towards the end of the runway upwind direction.
4. No take offs ( including hand launches) to be made from behind the flight line
5. All pilots will fly their aircraft from the flight line. Pilots may stand behind their aircraft during take off but must make their way into the pilot box immediately after takeoff.
6. Junior Members (Under 14) must have a “Rated” Adult pilot with them in the Pilot’s Box while flying their aircraft.
7. A Maximum of 4 only aircraft in the air at any one time
8. No flying over Flight Line, Pit Area, car park, any public area or beyond the designated flying area – SERIOUS DISCIPLINARY ACTION MAY RESULT.
9. No pilot shall monopolize the flight line for more than 1 battery charge allows. The model must be returned to the pits for battery replacement so as to allow other pilots to enjoy “Flight-time”
10. All “Low passes” and their direction must be announced loudly and acknowledged by other pilots flying one circuit prior to the Low Pass manouvre.

Priority order for runway use is as follows:-

1. Dead stick landings – (announce loudly “Dead stick!”)
2. Powered landings – (announce loudly “Landing!”)
3. Taxiing to clear runway
4. Take offs – (announce loudly “Taking Off!”)
5. Taxiing to take-off point

WHILE IN THE AIR (Circuits)

If you are accompanied by other aircraft we fly a Circuit Pattern. That Circuit is decided upon by the first/only pilot flying whether he/she flies a right-hand or left-hand circuit. Because the BIRMA
field has a rather unique layout with regard to Pit Area (NO FLY ZONE) and Runway directions it is unusual to have a Circuit other than one on the North side of the East-West runway with the Circuit travelling either East or West.

An exception to this could occur with a “Stiff” South breeze which could allow the Circuit Pattern to be on the Eastern side of the North/South runway with the Circuit travelling North or South.
For those wanting to do Severe Aerobatic Manoeuvres, you are asked to move outside the Circuit area to the North and fly higher to carry out your manoeuvres while still being aware of our ceiling
of 400ft. for operations.

PRE-FLIGHT

Before the flying of any models can commence, the field box will be opened and the fire extinguisher and first aid kit will be made accessible. Pre-flight checks of
airframes and control surfaces are to be undertaken prior to flying a model and after a hard landing. (Refer to THE BIRMA pre-flight checklist) 1. If you have any doubt
about a model’s air-worthiness – DO NOT FLY IT.

The BIRMA PRE-FLIGHT CHECK LIST consists of :
1. Battery disconnected check Engine mountings
2. Do final balance check of aircraft
3. Check all hinges, Clevices, actuating Horns and connecting rods
4. Check Servo mountings and connections
5. Connect Battery and Check you have the correct model selected by your Transmitter
6. Check the correct “Spin” of propeller with short application of Power
7. Check all control surfaces move in the correct direction
8. Ready for Flight
